Maarten Van den Boogaard

Open Innovation leader at Philips Personal Health

Having a PhD in Chemistry Maarten started working as a chemical development engineer in Philips in 2003. In his projects he soon realized Philips was not a chemical company and that Philips needed to team-up with its suppliers and other parties. This fueled the interest for external collaborations and teaming up to excel. Also, in next roles, always in front end innovation, both in the Netherlands as well as in Singapore, external collaborations were an important enabler.

Today, as Open Innovation Leader for Philips Personal Health, Maarten is experienced in all kinds of collaborations. He supports Philips’ innovation teams and businesses with finding suitable partners to collaborate. Among these partners are universities, SME’s and other corporates. Collaborations can start both from a Philips (innovation) need, as well as an opportunity that the other party has for Philips. In both situations the main challenge in every collaboration is finding the win-win, and this requires creativity from both parties.
